Quinta do Rio Touro - eco and agro-tourism

Eco & Agro-Tourism

While the Quinta is a family owned bed and breakfast where peace, serenity and relaxation dominate your experience, it is also a working certified organic farm.

When the land of the Quinta was purchased in 1994, it had been abandoned and was overrun with wild vegetation. On the property were ruins of buildings, some of which have been restored. The Manor House and Guest House maintain the original traditional architecture of the region.

Every guest will find what they are looking for in the Quinta experience, whether ecologic, cultural or artistic. The agricultural production is certified organic and food may be consumed right from the farm as it is naturally fertilized and grown without pesticides. Guests are welcome to participate in the daily farm work. The landscape at the Quinta includes a plantation of thousands of lime trees and another of pine trees. There are many native specimens for the bird or flower enthusiast.

If the relaxation in peace and solitude becomes too much, the guest may enjoy any number of attractions very close to the Quinta. To continue enjoying the surrounding landscape, there are beaches nearby. There are also many interesting monuments and museums as well as art, music and dance festivals either in Sintra, Cascais or Lisbon. Others may enjoy the area’s ten golf courses, casino, restaurants, bars, racetrack or nightclubs. There is something for everyone at the Quinta Rio Touro.

Dear Fernando and Gabriela Reino, in a very special place we had the chance to experience a very special kind of hos-pitality and warmth. In the short period we have been in your house, we learned quite a lot about your "quinta", about Portuguese history, and about social politcal facts. We had some interesting conversations. We love the architecture, the arrangement of your place, but what is more important: We love the warm behaviour of you both and of the persons working with you. You, Gabriela, said, that I got sick, because we left you. I think you are right. Return-ing back to Germany we will be home-sick for your lovely “quinta” with fantastic peo-ple.
